Attendance Sign-in Sheet

Use of the sign-in sheet was discussed and it was explained that it was used in the past to keep our call list up to date. No action was taken.

Approval of Last Month’s Minutes

Due to Scott’s absence no minutes were presented.

Treasury Report

Due to Scott’s absence no minutes were presented, but Joe indicated that a treasury report would now be regular item on the agenda at our monthly meetings.

Louis asked what the final expenses were on the Ladies Brunch and wanted to know whether there were any outstanding bills. Action: Joe will find out and report on this.

Communications

Joe Wargo presented our most up-to-date contact list. Use of personal phone calls and email was discussed. Phone calls have not been used much recently, but will be done in the future to personalize Men’s Ministry activities.

Structure of the Men’s Ministry Committee

Attendance of Committee members has become so irregular that none of those present was certain who was or was not a member of the Committee.

A list was made of those we thought were members.

Johnnie stated that we should restructure completely and that Joe should determine who is or is not on the Committee for purposes of moving forward.

Another list was made of possible candidates for Committee Membership. Joe asked those present to provide input on both the existing members and possible new members.

Chris Penson suggested we writeup responsibility descriptions to clarify who does what. Joe indicated that he had presented a more formal organization structure (See Minutes from Oct and Nov 2006).

It became evident that the Committee should meet soon for the restructuring.

Action: Joe Wargo will talk to the Committee Members who were not present and schedule a meeting before the regular July meeting.

What Is the Men’s Ministry?

We discussed how to organize and enable the men to serve the needs of the congregation as well as the community (e.g. single mothers). Joe said that this could be accomplished by engaging the men with each other which is precisely the focus of the CrossWalk initiative.

Although the CrossWalk initiative was not discussed per se, Joe reminded the group that CrossWalk had been put on hold until we were finished with more traditional activities of the Men’s Ministry. He indicated he intends to bring CrossWalk back to the forefront.
