Kimberly House (Johnny De La Cruz)
Kimberly house didn’t pass the food pantry inspection because it needed shelves. We need 8 shelves roughly 1ft X 8 ft with multiple layers(3-4 layers each). There are also 3 pallets of buffalo grass that needs to be spread out. There is also some gravel that needs to be spread out. Perhaps we can organize this through the men’s ministry. It should only take about 5 man hours or so. The irrigation system for the front and back has been successfully installed. Also there is no longer a need for doors. Doug volunteered to help out with this ministry. The Hall family have recently moved out and another family has moved in.
Sunday Brunch
We need to hand out tickets for the Sunday brunch ahead of time so we can collect money ahead of time. Sedrick, Henry, Doug, and Scott have volunteered to assist Louis with this project. Scott volunteered to be in charge of selling tickets. He will use some of the coffee cash if necessary. Louis will head up the cooking team. There was a lengthy discussion on what would be served. We will likely server tacos.
ORG chart
Possibly establish a four man advisory board to report to the elders and pastor. It was suggested that these men be senior citizens. The men’s ministry leader wouldn’t necessarily be involved with the detailed work. He would more or less coordinate the work.
Joe's concerns
Last month we couldn’t get a quorum to vote on issues. We need to increase attendance by 40%
Crosswalk
Joe has come up with a program loosely based on Mt Sinai’s Cross Talk program. Mt’s Sinai’s CrossTalk meets every Friday. It is composed of both a facilitator and a host.
The committee reviewed the CrossWalk draft document and did not recommend any changes to it. The motion to implement CrossWalk was passed
The program was presented to and approved by Pastor Rick. This program would mean a major change in our current focus. We should consider the ramifications.
Pete's Concerns
Pete mentioned the church mission statement should be ironed out. Henry agreed that our vision as the men’s ministry needs to be clear. Pete agreed with Joe that there is a need to build up the men. In other words, we need more participation. It was stated that men need to know why individuals are engaged in a particular activity and what common goal is achieved by this activity. The men also need accountability. This is even true with getting people to usher. Hollis agreed with this and suggested that CrossWalk will be that vehicle of accountability and maybe even communication tool.
Sedrick
Sedrick spoke on ways to bring out the commonality between men. He also covered the “10 Questions” aspect of this problem.
